Ring duration

The ring ends where you set it

Set the ring to 15 or 30 seconds, 1 or 2 minutes. It ends there by itself, and the house goes quiet again without anyone reaching for the phone.

Bedside Mode

A dim clock on the charger all Shabbat

On iPhone you leave the app open on the charger, and the screen dims to a clock you can read from bed. Alarms start and stop at the exact minute, with a system backup alarm armed in case the app was closed.

Friday check-in

One last look before candle lighting

One to four hours before candle lighting, ShabbatRise reminds you to check what is set and plug the phone in. It already knows when Shabbat comes in and goes out where you are, worked out on the phone itself, so airplane mode changes nothing.

How it works

Set your alarms on Friday

Choose wake-up times for Friday night and Shabbat morning. ShabbatRise already knows your local candle-lighting time — computed on your phone, no internet needed.

Put your phone on the charger

Before candle lighting, ShabbatRise reminds you to check your alarms and leave your phone charging.

It rings — and stops by itself

Your alarm rings loud at the exact minute, then turns itself off after 15 seconds to 2 minutes. No tapping, no swiping, no interaction at all.

Built with halacha in mind

ShabbatRise works like a Shabbat clock for your lights: everything is armed before candle lighting, and the phone acts entirely on its own until havdalah. Communities differ in their practices — please consult your rabbi.

Frequently asked questions

What is ShabbatRise?

ShabbatRise is a free alarm clock app for Shabbat (Shabbos) and it is built around one idea: you set your alarms before Shabbat, and during Shabbat the phone does everything alone. The alarm rings at the exact time you chose and stops by itself, so you never need to touch the phone.

How can an alarm clock work on Shabbat without touching the phone?

Every alarm is armed before candle lighting, the same principle as a Shabbat timer for lights, and during Shabbat ShabbatRise rings and silences itself with no interaction from you. It turns itself off after a duration you chose in advance — 15 seconds to 2 minutes — with no taps, no swipes, no buttons.

Does the alarm really stop by itself?

ShabbatRise alarms stop by themselves: you choose 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute or 2 minutes in advance, and the ring ends on its own with no tap and no swipe. You can also set one automatic repeat a few minutes later in case you sleep through the first ring.
